Throughout its lifetime, the hotel and casino has slowly been changing its theming. Faux windows are lit up at night within the casino's porte cochere and valet area. It is based off of an old Spanish Empire, more specifically its casino and hotel buildings being themed after the architecture that was used during the Spanish Colonial era, possibly being inspired by places such as the Cathedral of Mexico City and various buildings in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Sunset Station is perhaps the most thematic hotel and casino that Station Casinos has created so far. It was later changed to a more brown to fit it's Spanish Empire theme.Īn expansion in 2005 bought the Strike Zone Cosmic Bowling Center and more gaming space. At the time, the hotel's tower had a pinkish hue to it.
The hotel's grand opening was to demonstrate Station Casino's ability to market their own hotels and casinos to locals. Sunset Station was Station Casino's first ever attempt at trying to make local's-oriental Las Vegas Strip-like hotel and casino. It is named after Sunset Road, which is where the main entrance to the property is. The hotel and casino mainly caters to a local crowd, similar to other casinos owned by the Station Casinos corporation. The hotel is home of a bowling center, the Feast Buffet, Grand Cafe, and other places. The hotel is owned by Station Casinos and opened in 1997. Sunset Station is a 400-room Spanish-themed hotel and casino located Henderson, Nevada.
